Welterweight Matthew Semelsberger drew his 11th walk into the UFC Octagon on Saturday against Charles Radke on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 100.
This battle was a key one for “Semi the Jedi,” who had lost three in a row and needed a victory to stay in the company. In contrast, “Chuck Buffalo” Radke started with one loss to Carlos Prates, who happened to be the star of Saturday’s card.
Radtke achieved early success in the fight, which ended just before it began. His left hand had lightning speed, strength, and accuracy. Mr. Semelsberger staggered, bruised, after one bullet to the left hit him in the side of the head and another shot left his temple. The blow that followed was a right-handed shot that sent Matthew Semelsberger to his knees. So the referee had seen enough.
“Oh, shit, I’m telling you, how about that damn knockout?” Radke yelled after the win, saying he expected a 15-minute war. “By the way, I have a lot of respect for Matt.”
Radke then said he finished in just 51 seconds and asked for a bonus. “Give me that money. Give it to me! Or I’m going to have to keep beating the entire welterweight division. Lots of bastards!” At the same time, Radke is emotional about fighting for his family and not having the opportunity. He said he was blessed.
Official result: Charles Radtke def. Matthew Semelsberger TKO (punch), round 1, 0:51
