Chihiro Suzuki successfully defended her featherweight title for the first time with a first-round TKO on Sunday at RIZIN FIGHTING FEDATION 46 in Tokyo, Japan. Suzuki, 24, overwhelmed veteran challenger Masanori Kanehara with a series of ground punches at the 4:20 mark of the first round. After an early timeout due to an accidental groin hit, Suzuki (13-3, 1NC, 8-1, 1 NC RIZIN) began targeting Kanehara’s (29-13-5, 4-2 RIZIN) left leg. I threw a kick that slowed him down. With 75 seconds left in the first round, Suzuki rapidly increased his pace and began peppering Kanehara with punches, including a right hook to the temple that sent him wobbling. Moments later, as Kanehara fell to the mat, Suzuki felt the finish was near and threw more punches until the fight was shaken off.
Suzuki has now won eight of his past nine fights in RIZIN, with the only blemish being a no-contest against Kleber Koike Erbst in June 2023, with Erbst submitting Suzuki but losing weight. He was unable to increase his weight and was stripped of his featherweight title in the process. . Erbst is scheduled to appear at RIZIN 47 in June. A win there could set up a championship rematch with Suzuki in the future, but Suzuki had other plans in mind when he spoke backstage after his victory.
“I’m taking Pitbull’s belt,” Suzuki said, referring to the Bellator featherweight title held by Patricio Freire, whom Suzuki knocked out at Super RIZIN 2 in July of this year. America, I’m ready to go anywhere. ”

In the bantamweight co-main event, standout wrestler Shinobu Ota (6-3, 6-3 RIZIN) takes on former RIZIN featherweight champion Juntaro Ushiku (21-9, 3-3) His biggest win to date was a clear unanimous decision win. Raijin).

The main card of Rizin 46 featured three matches between Japan and South Korea. In the end, the Japanese team won 2-1, but Kim Soo-chul (RIZIN, 22-7-1, 3-1) scored the best KO of the night against Taichi Nakajima in the bantamweight division. Prevented a shutout (16-13, 1-2 RIZIN).
Nakajima scored a takedown on Mount in the first round, controlled the action and appeared to be well on his way to victory despite Kim’s fatigue. Recent Rizin flyweight title challenger Makoto Takahashi (17-2-1, 1NC, 4-1 Rizin) is up against Road to UFC Season 2 contestant Chung Hyun Lee (4-2, 0-0) After overwhelming RIZIN (1 loss), he used his arms to subdue the Korean with a triangle choke at 4 minutes 29 seconds in the first round.
Takahashi got on Lee’s back early on and threatened to use a rear-naked choke while throwing a flurry of punches. Lee complained that some were hitting him in the back of the head, but the match continued and Takahashi landed more blows from back control. Moving into an arm triangle choke on him, Lee quickly tapped out. After the match, Takahashi requested a match against Hiromasa Ogikubo, who is set to participate in Super RIZIN3 on July 28th.

Concluding the match between Japan and South Korea, Kazuma Kuramoto (10-4, 4-3 RIZIN) defeated Yang Zhiyong (8-2, 2-1 RIZIN) to score the first win of the night for the Japanese team. Ta. Split decision after 3 rounds of fierce fighting.
Kuramoto got multiple takedowns in the first frame and attacked Yan with a heel hook while he was standing against the ropes in the corner. Early in the second round, Yan landed a bad cut above Kuramoto’s right eye, but Kuramoto fought back with more heel hook attempts, and Yan was definitively given a yellow card for grabbing the ropes multiple times. . In the final round, Yan became more aggressive with his strikes, landing a jump guard with a guillotine choke in the final stages of the fight, but his yellow card deduction was not reversed. One judge still ruled in Yang’s favor, but the remaining two both sided with Kuramoto.
On the preliminary card, Noah Bey (2-3, 2-3 RIZIN) won a lackluster unanimous decision over Yusaku Inoue (11-5-1, 1-1 RIZIN) in the lightweight division. I got it.
