Aleksandar Rakic’s coach Babak Nejadmoghaddam insists that the Austrian did not give 100% in his last fight.
Rakic lost by second-round technical knockout to Jiri Prochaska at UFC 300 in April of this year. Rakic had already disrupted Prochaska’s movement with leg kicks in the first round, but in the second round, “BJP” came from behind to win by TKO. Nejadmoghaddam revealed that Rakic is taking antibiotics ahead of UFC 300. The coach said Rakic was the one who said he couldn’t feel his legs when he returned to his corner between rounds.
UFC 308: Topuria vs. Holloway takes place Saturday at 2pm ET on ESPN+. Order now!
Nejadmoghaddam, who is on a losing streak, admits that Rakic has not been performing well lately. But he feels all that will change when Rakic faces top contender Magomed Ankalaev in a possible title eliminator at UFC 308 this Saturday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Nejadmoghaddam believes “Rocket” can not only upset Ankalaev, but ultimately dethrone light heavyweight king Alex Pereira.
“At UFC 300, he fought Jiri Prochaska using antibiotics,” Nejadmoghaddam said on the UFC 308 countdown show. “And you saw what happened. In the first round he was completely dominating, but in the second round he just… As he was sitting on the stool, he said to me, , “Coach, I can’t feel my legs.” I’ve never told anyone, but the past is the past. Unfortunately, we have a dark cloud hanging over us. However, we have great feelings for this camp and this fight. People don’t know who they’re dealing with. And we like this. Only this person can stop me [Alex] Pereira, definitely. ”
