According to WON, the Texas Rattlesnake and WWE were unable to reach a financial agreement for his WrestleMania 40 appearance. In a conversation with Sports Illustrated, Cody Rhodes spoke about Steve Austin’s absence from The Grand Stage of Them All.
“Let me just say this: I know a lot of people were talking about Stone Cold Steve Austin and him being there and him not being there and the story and everything. I have nothing but love for Stone Cold, the most profitable and unbelievable wrestler of his time. It’s so great to know that they broke that standard.
