Coming off her UFC 297 title loss to Raquel Pennington, Mayra Bueno Silva was looking to bounce back at UFC 303 against TUF 28 champion Macy Chiasson.
The tall Chiasson landed some big punches early on, mixing in some kicks. Bueno Silva, a hard-hitting boxer, seemed to struggle with Chiasson’s length, but she fought back well enough. When the two clinched, her size advantage was clearly on display. Chiasson increased her numbers with a few minutes left in the round, attacking the Brazilian multiple times, landing some hits with Chiasson’s knees. In the final minute, the two exchanged heavy punches again and clinched to end a very active round.
In the second round, a powerful elbow from Chiasson, who was dominating Bueno Silva early on, created a nasty cut that quickly began to bleed. Lying on her back, Myra Bueno Silva locked her legs and went for an arm bar. However, the submission was not successful and she was dropped, after which Chiasson got up and chopped both of “Sheetara’s” legs while she was still on her back. Myra got up, but the referee was called in to check the cut and invalidated it. The cut was indeed deep and blood was leaking from her eye, so the fight was stopped, but Bueno Silva did not like it.
