Conor McGregor’s return will set an all-time gate record for the Las Vegas-based promotion, according to UFC CEO Dana White.
McGregor will take on Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303 on June 29th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, culminating International Fight Week. It will be the UFC’s biggest star’s first fight since July 2021, and ticket sales appear to reflect his high level of interest in the former two-division champion.
“It’s well over $20 million already,” White said during Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 56 post-fight press conference.
To put that number into perspective, the UFC has never held an event with more than $20 million in live gates. But McGregor has been attached to some of the promotion’s biggest gates, including the previous record of $17.7 million set at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York. At this event, McGregor defeated Eddie Alvarez in the headliner to win the lightweight title.
McGregor was also responsible for the second gate at UFC 229, earning $17.1 million for his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. At UFC 300, held on April 13th, he brought in the third-highest gate of $16.5 million. Expensive tickets, including VIP packages exceeding $12,000, are also believed to play a key role at the gates of UFC 303.
