Dana White is so happy with the success of his monumental UFC 300 pay-per-view (PPV) card that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada this past weekend that the UFC CEO has officially given it to all of us. I’m rubbing it.
On paper, UFC 300 has the most stacked fight card in the promotion’s history. There were two real title fights, a “BMF” title fight, and a total of 12 current or former UFC champions. There were no injuries or fight cancellations, and all the fighters on the card successfully made weight. It was truly a once in a lifetime event.
That said, mixed martial arts (MMA) enthusiasts and combat sports fans in general were skeptical about UFC 300’s firepower before the event was actually canceled. Without the likes of Conor McGregor, Jon Jones, and Israel Adesanya headlining a major PPV show, it would be difficult for fight fans to feel completely convinced heading into UFC 300.
Fortunately, the action worked as advertised. Most of the matches were close, back-and-forth, with the exception of Aljamain Sterling’s one-sided victory over Calvin Kattar. There were a total of five knockouts, three submissions, and one of the craziest finishes in the history of the sport, courtesy of Max Holloway. Not to mention the fact that his 300 attendance, gate numbers, and social metrics for the UFC were subpar. It was a huge promotional success, to say the least.
On Saturday, White posted a video on social media boasting about the success of the event (watch it in the video player above). Additionally, the UFC CEO has decided to bash UFC 300 in any way, shape, or form to any media he can get his hands on. This includes podcasters, prominent his MMA reporters, and YouTube creators. White rattled off the records that UFC 300 broke while taking shots at everyone he could.
Does this mean that UFC 300 will actually have over 1 million PPV buys?
