It looks like a potential bantamweight matchup is being prepared.
Adrian Yanez scored a brutal first-round technical knockout victory over Vinicius Salvador at UFC Fight Night 241 on Saturday. Yanez then called up fellow prospect Daniel Santos for a Noche UFC bout at The Sphere in Las Vegas. Yanez also expressed interest in a potential matchup with Victor Henry during Saturday’s post-match media scrum.
“I was accosted by a couple of guys,” Yanez said. “I know that Jon Castaneda is going to have a really tough fight in front of him when he faces Daniel Marcos. Daniel Santos, on the other hand, has not been booked for a fight. ‘And I don’t care about that at all. I think it’s fun. And I think it’s also really cool for Victor Henry in his last game.”
Santos wasted no time in accepting Yanez’s call via social media.
“I want this fight [Sean Shelby]” Santos wrote on his Instagram Story. “I accept [Adrian Yanez].Let’s do it [Dana White], [Diego Lima]”
Yanez bounced back from back-to-back stoppage losses to Rob Font and Jonathan Martinez with the win over Salvador. This was the only two losses of his UFC career. Meanwhile, Santos made his UFC debut in April 2022, taking a short unanimous decision against Julio Arce. Brazilian Santos then bounced back with a TKO win over Jon Castaneda, followed by a unanimous decision win over Johnny Munoz Jr.
