While his fighting career has been on hiatus for the past three years, Conor McGregor continues to find other activities to keep him busy.
According to a report from the Sunday World, the former two-division UFC champion is set to launch a record label, Greenback Records, in his native Ireland. McGregor has partnered with CEO Richard Buck and creative director and head of A&R Julian O’Brien to create the first major record label based in Dublin. Greenback Records has reportedly signed several artists, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.
“I am excited to be setting up Ireland’s first major record label in an industry that I have had a huge interest in for a long time,” said McGregor. “I look forward to entering this industry and being able to provide musical artists with a fair deal and reward them for their talent.”
“Like many industries, this industry has long needed an overhaul and I, McGregor Sports & Entertainment, am thrilled to be launching Greenback Records as co-founders with Richard and Julian.”
Through Greenback Records, McGregor plans to offer artists partnership deals and profit sharing that are “currently unheard of in the industry.”
Outside of fighting, McGregor has a variety of business ventures, including the wildly successful Proper Number Twelve whiskey, which he reportedly sold for $600 million; he also founded Forged Irish Stout beer; and opened his own pub and restaurant, The Black Forge Inn. In April of this year, the “Notorious” man made his major film debut starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the remake of “Roadhouse,” which premiered on Prime Video.
After training Michael Chandler’s opponent at “The Ultimate Fighter 31,” McGregor was expected to make his Octagon return against the former Bellator champion at UFC 303 on June 29. However, a broken toe forced McGregor to pull out of the event. The bout is rumored to be scheduled for December, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
