Two exciting featherweight contenders who are relative newcomers to UFC answered the call to kick off the main card of UFC on ESPN 60. Jeongyong Lee, the winner of the 2022 Road to UFC, has two wins with the promotion, most recently taking on Haider Amir in February and defeating Blake Bilder by unanimous decision.
Haider Amir comes into this bout with a 9-0 record, having made his promotional debut in February with a second-round TKO of Ferrin Garcia. As featured on Dana White’s “If You Don’t Know, Find Out Now,” this bout promises to be a highly competitive one.
The bout started with Haider landing a quick body kick that Lee blocked. As Lee threw a punch, Amir landed a quick counter, forcing the two into the cage. As the two traded punches back into space, Lee received multiple punches to the jaw. Jeongyeon still looked calm or stunned, but landed several powerful counter punches in response. Amir stepped up his attack, landing hard lefts and rights to Lee’s face. Haider continued his attack, landing 30-odd punch combinations and pushing him against the cage, completely melting Lee. By the time the referee stepped in, Lee was limp and back again and again. And Amir didn’t stop punching.
Haider Amir landed 38 effective shots in a match that lasted just over a minute.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Haider Amir defeats Jongyong Lee by TKO, Round 1, 1:05
