The headliners for the bantamweight division at RIZIN 47 have officially been decided, with both Kyoji Horiguchi and Sergio Pettis hitting contract records at the weigh-in.
Horiguchi weighed in at 133.9 pounds, and Sergio Pettis at 134. But it wasn’t all smooth sailing for everyone on the card. UFC veteran Johnny Case weighed in at 158.7 pounds for his match against Noah Bey (156.4). He was 2.2 pounds short and ineligible to win under RIZIN rules. As a result, if Bey loses or the bout ends in a draw, the bout will be recorded as a no contest. Additionally, Case will start the bout with a one-point deduction.
RIZIN 47 takes place on Sunday at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, with the featherweight co-main event featuring Clever “Koike” Erbst (145.5) facing Juan Archuleta (145.5).
Horiguchi and Pettis first faced off in December 2021 at the Bantamweight Grand Prix at Bellator 272, with Pettis winning by fourth-round knockout with a spinning back fist. Horiguchi is currently unbeaten in his last four fights and is fresh off a second-round submission win over Makoto Takahashi at RIZIN 45. Meanwhile, Pettis’ six-fight win streak was snapped when he vacated the 135-pound belt with a submission loss to Patrick Mix at Bellator 301 last November.
