Jiri Prochazka’s second chance against Alex Pereira yielded less promising results.
Prochazka was knocked down at the end of the first round by a head kick and follow-up from Pereira just 13 seconds into the second round in the main event of UFC 303 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Prochazka had also lost their first bout at UFC 295, but performed reasonably well in the first round and legitimately complained in the second period that referee Marc Goddard could have stopped the fight too early.
There was no such doubt on Saturday night, but now it seems the BJP will have to do some soul-searching before its next appearance in the Octagon.
“Hello everyone. Thank you for your support. Thank you for fighting, Alex. [were] “I hope to get better,” Prochazka said in a social media video. “Only one thing on my mind, evolve to the next level or never compete again. Quite simply, this is how you become the best. Thank you and see you in the gym.”

Prochazka, a former RIZIN Fighting Federation champion, won 13 straight fights from 2016 to 2022 and captured the UFC light heavyweight title with a fifth-round submission win over Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. Prior to Saturday’s loss, he bounced back from his first defeat to Pereira with a second-round stoppage of Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300.
