Cedric Doumbu has a new dance partner in his Bellator MMA debut.
The promotion announced Wednesday that Jahlil Willis will replace the injured Derek Anderson and face Doumbe at the Bellator Champions Series Paris on May 17 at Accor Arena. Anderson injured his leg in a hit-and-run bicycle accident and was forced to withdraw from the event.
Willis, 32, has lost in three of his last four Bellator appearances. Most recently, he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Ramazan Kramagomedov at Bellator 297 in June 2023. Willis’ last three losses have all come within rounds.
Doumbe began his professional mixed martial arts career with five consecutive wins, including a nine-second knockout of Jordan Zebo in his PFL debut in September of this year. In his last appearance, the Frenchman suffered a controversial third-round TKO loss to Baisangor Chamsuddinov in PFL Europe 1. The bout was stopped at 1:21 of the third round when Doumbe complained to referee Mark Goddard about an injury to his left leg. Doumbe later revealed that during the match, a piece of debris stuck in his leg and got in the way.
The bantamweight title fight between Patrick Mix and Magomed Magomedov is drawing attention at the Bellator Champions Series in Paris. The card will be broadcast on Max in the US.
