The California Athletic Commission has announced the fight night weights for UFC 311 fighters.
There is usually a big difference between an athlete’s weight on the day of the weigh-in and their weight on the night of the game when they are hydrated. This led to the coining of the term “weight bully” to describe people who lose a lot of weight but end up gaining even more weight on game night.
In the main event, Islam Makhachev and Renato Moicano weighed 155 pounds, but on fight night Makhachev weighed 178 pounds and his challenger weighed 181.5 pounds. Meanwhile, in the co-main event, bantamweights Merab Dvalishvili and Umar Nurmagomedov weighed exactly the same at 156.8 pounds.
The light heavyweight showdown between Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill featured one of the biggest weight differences on fight night. Ms. Prochaska weighed 205 pounds, but she weighed only 208.2 pounds. Hill, on the other hand, weighed 221.8 pounds. Given how little Prochaska has been cut, it might not be unrealistic that the former light heavyweight champion had previously considered a move to middleweight.
