Jiri Prochaska is confident he can become UFC champion again.
Prochaska will face Jamahal Hill in a high-stakes light heavyweight matchup at UFC 311 on Saturday at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. ‘The BJP’ initially won the title against Glover Teixeira in 2022, but vacated the title a few months later due to a shoulder injury. At UFC 295 in 2023, he faced Teixeira’s protégé Alex Pereira for the vacant title, but lost by TKO in the second round. Although he bounced back with a stoppage victory over Aleksandar Rakic, the Czech later withdrew from a rematch with ‘Poitan’ at UFC 303 in June 2024.
However, Prochaska has since claimed to have made major lifestyle changes, which could propel her towards a third title fight against Pereira.
“I’ve said it many times and I mean it very seriously,” Prochaska told MMAjunkie.com. “I take everything I say very seriously. I believe that I have improved in my style, in my life, in everything, to be able to fight Alex Pereira for the third time. I believe I can be a champion, and I will aim to become a champion again.
While Prochaska is known for following the samurai Bushido code, Hill is rather vocal in his pre-game trash talk. However, Denisa is only focused on portraying her way of fighting to the world in preparation for UFC 311.
“I just want to be myself,” he said. “That’s what I want to show the world. The best version of myself, the way I look at martial arts, the best version of my fighting style. This is what I want to share. This is what I want to show the world. That means I’m the best. I’ve improved so I can be the top again, the champion.”
