Jiri Prochaska believes there is still unfinished business with Alex Pereira.
Prochaska most recently scored a bonus knockout victory over Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 300 on April 13th. Pereira also retained his light heavyweight status with a brutal technical knockout win over Jamahal Hill in the card’s main event. Prochaska, who suffered a TKO loss to ‘Poitan’ for the vacant title in November 2023, is hoping for a rematch with Brazilian Poitan at UFC 301 on May 4th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There is. The Czech star is ready to take another test if the UFC wants it, but believes he did enough to deserve the gold medal.
“As I said after the fight, I’m looking for a title fight with Alex Pereira. And I could fight in Brazil and I still do. So we’ll see,” Prochaska said of Michael Pereira. He said this in an interview with Bisping. “Now I’m competing in the UFC.” [at] This point. Let’s see if I need to fight another fighter before the title fight, I will. But after that decision in New York and after, I think it was worth it. [I] We won this battle. ”
However, even if Prochaska does get a title shot, it’s unlikely to happen at UFC 301. Pereira recently revealed that he is unlikely to be medically cleared to compete in Rio de Janeiro.
There was some debate about Prochaska’s stoppage loss to Pereira, but the ‘BJP’ denied the ‘early stoppage’ claim in a post-fight interview. However, after watching the match again, Prochaska changed her mind. He believes that unlike Pereira’s recent opponent Hill, he did not have enough time to recover.
“I said what I said, and it was then. But when you watch that so many times, and people ask so many times, when you watch that game, you know, that was an early game. I have to say it was an interruption,” he said. When I saw Jamahal Hill vs. Pereira [fight] Now…it’s like my fight, Jamahal spent far more time surviving the moment than I did. And I know how to survive difficult moments, I know how to bounce back, how to win, how to turn around. ”
Throughout his UFC career, Prochaska has proven that he has the ability to survive and turn around difficult situations. In their last fight, Prochazka suffered a cut near his right eye and a bite to his lead leg before knocking Rakic out in a comeback. But Prochaska knows he can’t risk letting his defense down against Pereira, who recently shattered former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou’s punching power record.
“Looking at my performance with Aleksandar Rakic, it’s hard to talk about my performance with Alex Pereira. With Alex in particular, I realized there was no way I could work with him like I worked with Aleksandar Rakic. ” he said. “Because it’s just one punch, one two punch, that means everything. Still, I don’t think he’ll fight the same way as Rakic, like he did with Pereira, so I think he’s going to give his performance. I realize I’m working, but I’m a different person.
