Joylton Luterback’s tenure with the Ultimate Fighting Championship ended before he ever stepped inside the Octagon.
On Tuesday, the Combat Sports Anti-Doping Agency (CSAD) announced that Luterbach tested positive for a metabolite of the anabolic steroid drostanolone in an out-of-competition sample taken on June 8. The test came two weeks before Luterbach is scheduled to face Sharabutdin Magomedov at UFC on ABC 6 in Saudi Arabia.
Luterbach was notified of his positive test on June 20 at the Fighters Hotel in Saudi Arabia and admitted to using a banned substance. He was suspended for two years by the CSAD for failing to declare his use of drostanolone prior to the test. Additionally, UFC terminated his contract with the organization. Luterbach is eligible to return to action on June 23, 2026.
“I actually used juice [three] “I never thought I’d be signing with UFC a few months ago,” Lutterbach wrote on Instagram on June 20. “I could have hidden in the mountains or gone to Thailand and not been tested like so many others have done, but I chose to take the risk and trust that I was clean and fit enough to fight.”
The 31-year-old Brazilian boxer has a professional record of 38 wins, 9 losses, and one no-contest, and has competed for Brave Combat Federation, Professional Fighters League, Cage Warriors, KSW, and M-1 Global.
