Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to UFC Apex with an interesting fight night card featuring middleweight contenders at the top.
Headlining UFC Fight Night 245 is the main event between the rising Anthony Hernandez and the always entertaining Michel Pereira. Both athletes successfully lost weight and fell below the weight limit of 186 pounds. With one notable exception, Joselyn Edwards, who came in three pounds overweight for her fight against Tamirez Vidal, all the other fighters made weight. As a result, she will be fined a percentage of her purse. This is the third time Edwards has dropped weight within the UFC.
This will be Hernandez’s first UFC main event (12-2, 1 NC). ‘Fluffy’ has racked up an impressive five-fight winning streak, including finishes over Roman Kopylov, Edmen Shahbazian and Marc-Andre Barrio. The former LFA Champion stepped on the scale and weighed 185.5 pounds.
Meanwhile, Pereira (31-11, No. 2 in North Carolina) has been incredibly strong during his last eight-game winning streak, including quick finishes from Ihor Potieria, Michal Olekszechuk and Andre Petroski. “Demolidor” hasn’t tasted defeat since losing by DQ to Diego Sanchez in 2020, and he is finally reaching his potential. The Brazilian’s official weight was 185.5 pounds.
UFC Fight Night 245 will be broadcast in its entirety on ESPN+. Preliminaries begin at 4:00 PM ET/1:00 PM PT, and the main card begins at 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT.
