The Dutch MMA promotion may have found the perfect (but also wild) way to encourage maximum violence, thanks to former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway.
Inspired by Holloway’s iconic KO win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 300 last Saturday, the Dutch Rebels Fight League announced Thursday that it has implemented a so-called “Max Point Throwdown” bonus. , that’s exactly right.
If a combatant in an LFL fight “starts by pointing to the center of the ring” and then “goes all in and starts exchanging,” they will be eligible to claim a share of the $5,000 bonus pot.
“We have talked about allocating ($5,000) between five games, meaning up to $1,000 per game if it occurs per game. We will reevaluate,” an LFL representative said. Bloody Elbow’s Jamie Theodosi. “But to be honest, we’re going to judge it fight by fight. We’re happy to reward our fighters even more if they bring us moments like this. ”

Easily up 1-1 in the third round at UFC 300 (and coming close to winning in the fifth round), Holloway pointed to the center of the octagon as the 10-second clap sounded and risked a brawl. He then put Gaethje to sleep in one round. A vicious punch to win the BMF title.
This all-time great sequence is what inspired LFL to do this.
“We were already big fans of Max Holloway so after that game we wanted to do something in his honor,” said an LFL representative. “Sure, he’s his UFC and we’re his LFL, but this sport is global and at the end of the day we’re still fans, so why not others? No one is doing it.”
who knows? Maybe this crazy idea will work out exactly as the LFL hopes it will and we’ll start posting about highlights of the insane knockouts happening in their organization.
In the famous words of Dana White, you can see how this will play out.
