Merab Dvalishvili claims Sean O’Malley injured him because of the food he ate before a match.
Dvalishvili challenged O’Malley for the bantamweight title in the main event of UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas on September 14. The Georgian focused his grappling for the majority of the bout, but Dvalishvili appeared to take a beating from a lunge to the body from “Shuga” in the final round and quickly dropped his hand, but “The Machine” went on to easily win by unanimous decision.
Dvalishvili now claims that he only hurt himself from strange food that O’Malley ate the night before. He claims that he already had stomach pains after eating the food, but that the pain returned when O’Malley kicked him in the stomach at the last moment.
““John Wooden gave me yogurt or something sweet,” Dvalishvili said in an interview with Daniel Cormier. “I ate it and my stomach was like, ‘What the heck?’ It gave me a stomach ache. Anyway, I fought and he
[kicked me in the gut] And then I felt the pain. I thought, ‘What is going on?'”

Dvalishvili is currently on an 11-fight winning streak, the longest in UFC bantamweight history, and while the UFC seems keen to have Dvalishvili face Umar Nurmagomedov in his first title defense, Dvalishvili has named former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo as his target.
