Michael Chandler claims that UFC 303 will either see Conor McGregor retire or make the biggest comeback in mixed martial arts history.
After more than a year in the making, Chandler is finally scheduled to fight McGregor in the main event on June 29th. Iron advises everyone not to miss this card, as it may be the last time we see Notorious. Step inside the Octagon.
The former Bellator MMA champion vows to force McGregor to retire. But Chandler also acknowledged that the former two-division champion has a chance to make perhaps the biggest comeback in martial arts history.
McGregor has been sidelined since July 2021 as he recovers from a broken foot he sustained during his third straight loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Considering Chandler is one of the UFC’s biggest fan favorites, “Iron” could be the biggest comeback in mixed martial arts history with McGregor admitting he has a chance to beat him.
“I need to buy this pay-per-view because this might be the last time I see Conor McGregor fight. What I will do for him on June 29th is that he does not return to the Octagon. I truly believe it’s justified and valuable,” Chandler recently told New York Post Sports. “That being said, Conor could be able to pull off the greatest comeback in martial arts history. He called it that. You know, the guy broke his leg, but… It was a very bad injury, and a lot of people ignored him, which he never did, but I knew it was going to be a tough road to recovery and come back to this moment. In other words, we could see the biggest comeback in martial arts history.
“His opponent is probably the most exciting guy to ever step into the UFC Octagon. Of all the masterpieces I’ve been painting over the years, I’ve created two things: two of the most explosive and exciting fighters, two of the most intriguing fighters, and perhaps the greatest comeback in the history of martial arts, or Conor McGregor. ‘s final fight, and the last time we’ll see him fight in mixed martial arts.”
