Ilya Topria will be replaced by Movsar Evloev.
The UFC Featherweight title photo is currently being slightly revised. Topuria won the title last year by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, and defended it at UFC 308 with the only knockout loss of his career to Max Holloway. Diego Lopez and Movsar Evloev are competing for the title as Holloway considers a permanent move to lightweight. Then there’s the fight.
However, Topria has expressed interest in moving up to lightweight soon, saying there are no contenders at 145 pounds. Evloev is not bothered by Topria’s comments. Because he’s currently focused on becoming world champion, no matter his opponent. But the Russians want “El Matador” one day and intend to pursue him across the ranks. But most importantly, Evloev believes Topria won’t move up until he defends his featherweight title at least one more time.
“Ilya, especially after my fight, started talking about how he was moving up too,” Evloev recently told MMAFighting.com. “I don’t know what’s going on. But for me, it doesn’t matter who my next opponent will be. Even if the champion rises, he leaves the title, I win the title, And I will follow him. Lightweight is not far for me…even if he moves up, this is my first goal, so I will take the belt first and then even if he follows him. [goes to]
Middleweight. He’s not a big guy. You don’t have to lose weight to beat this guy. I need his head [on] my list. But I don’t think he will leave the title. He’s not going to go to lightweight. He will defend the belt again soon. ”
Topuria has won six of eight fights in the UFC, showing a unique blend of devastating power and solid technique. Meanwhile, Evloev is also undefeated, but has yet to finish a UFC fight.
