LAS VEGAS – Nate Diaz is confident he will complete his trilogy with Conor McGregor.
Diaz suffered his first Octagon loss to McGregor with an upset submission in their welterweight bout at UFC 196 in 2016. McGregor was able to avenge his loss by defeating McGregor by majority decision at UFC 202.
Although Diaz currently does not have a UFC contract, Dana White said the Octagon will be Diaz’s home whenever he wants to return. Meanwhile, McGregor will return from a nearly three-year layoff to take on Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29th.
Diaz imagines being on the other side of the octagon from McGregor and a few other familiar foes again.
“I 100 percent guarantee that I will fight Conor McGregor again,” Diaz recently told reporters, including MMA Junkie. “I guarantee you 100 percent that I’ll probably fight Jake Paul again, I’ll fight this asshole (Jorge Masvidal) again, I’ll fight Leon Edwards again. That’s my hit list.”
Diaz, who suffered a doctor stoppage TKO loss to Masvidal in their 2019 BMF title fight, will bounce back as a “gamebred” in a 10-round 175-pound boxing match on June 1st at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. We aim to
He speaks highly of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, who was also on his hit list. When Diaz fought at UFC 263, Edwards cruised his opponent until Diaz passed out with less than a minute left. He survived and won a unanimous decision.
“Leon Edwards is the coolest guy in the UFC right now,” Diaz said. “That’s what I looked at. I like that fight right now. I think he’s doing well. I think he’s gotten better and he’s getting better. Good attitude, good fighter, I think he’s probably the best fighter in the UFC right now.”
