Last week, I received a call from UFC matchmakers asking why I wasn’t re-signed.
I’ve heard the flyweight division is made up of exciting fighters, but he doesn’t find me exciting 🥴 I don’t think half the fights are finishes/bonuses is enough now.

Flyweight prospect Nathan Manes has been unable to secure a contract extension with the Ultimate Fighting Championship despite his best efforts.
Maness (16-3) completed his contract last month with a unanimous decision win over Jimmy Flick. “Mayhem” was hoping for a contract extension but has not heard anything from UFC. Maness has indicated he would like to re-sign with UFC after his exclusivity period for contract renewal expired. Despite receiving offers from other organizations, Maness has been waiting for a renewal offer from UFC, or at least an explanation as to why no offer was forthcoming.
Manes was reportedly told by UFC matchmakers that he wasn’t attractive enough to meet the flyweight standard, an accusation that took the 5-2 UFC winner with three bonus finishes by surprise.
“I got a call from a UFC matchmaker last week asking why I didn’t re-sign. I was told the flyweight division is made up of exciting fighters and he doesn’t think I’m exciting 🥴 When half the fights are finishes or bonuses, I just don’t think it’s enough now.”
One fan pointed out that the UFC probably expected Maness to finish Flick off in their final bout, but “Mayhem” thought a shutout decision win would be enough.
“I thought I was being honest with myself,” Manes wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Don’t get caught out by crazy subs, win the match. I honestly thought that was enough. I landed 150+ strikes, landed 100+ total strikes, and landed 90 effective strikes. In my wildly off-base opinion, that should be enough.”
