After a busy UFC 311 weigh-in, it has been officially announced that the Ultimate Fighting Championship will have a new main event on its first pay-per-view of the year.

Currently, the highlight of the 13-bout card is the lightweight title fight between Islam Makhachev and Renato “Money” Moicano. This comes after Arman Tsarukyan pulled out of the championship rematch at the last minute due to a lower back injury. Meanwhile, in the co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili will aim to defend his title for the first time against undefeated Umar Nurmagomedov.
Makhachev (26-1) prepared during camp for Tsarukyan, who he defeated in the Octagon in 2019. Since winning a unanimous decision, the Dagestani fighter took the lightweight title from Charles Oliveira, defended it twice against Alexander Volkanovskiy, and defended it three times. He once played against Dustin Poirier. Makhachev comes into the fight at 154.5 pounds on a 14-fight winning streak.
Meanwhile, this will be the biggest fight of Moicano’s career (20-5-1). The outspoken lightweight has become a fan favorite and is on an impressive four-fight winning streak, including victories over Drew Dober and Benoit St. Denis. At the age of 35, the Brazilian has his first chance at championship gold. When “Money Moicano” stepped on the scale, he scored 155 pounds.
The UFC 311 main card will air live on ESPN+ pay-per-view on Saturday at 10pm ET/7pm PT. Preliminaries begin at 6pm ET/3pm PT on ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass, then continue at 8pm ET/5pm PT on ESPNews and ESPN+ .
