There was a lot of drama at the weigh-in as Nikita Tsi tried to use as much time as possible to qualify for her match against Danilo Creati.
Creati tipped the scales at 69.68kg, comfortably clearing the super welterweight limit of 70kg.
Boxing: Nikita Tsi returns to the ring for the first time in 2024, defends title against Danilo Creati and goes on to win four more big titles | Wednesday, April 24, 7pm AEST | Main Event on Kayo Sports and Order together now.
Italy national team coach Tony Del Vecchio revealed last night that Creati was able to enjoy a proper diet and had an easy time losing weight.
However, when ring announcer Lt. Dan Hennessy called for Tszyu to step on the scale, he was nowhere to be seen.
Main Event’s Ben Damon then revealed that “The Butcher” was delayed because he needed more time to lose weight, and No Limit CEO George Rhodes said this morning that Tszyu’s weight was below the limit. It was revealed that the weight exceeded 70kg by 1kg.
Del Vecchio was asked by Damon what he thought about Tszyu’s tardiness.

Coach Del Vecchio was okay with the possibility that Tszyu might be overweight upon arrival, even though he was aware that it would take an extra two hours to be weighed. I want to,” he said.
A white SUV eventually arrived at the entertainment quarter, and Tszyu, wearing black sunglasses, quickly headed to the stage.
Thankfully, Tszyu weighed in at 69.82kg, meaning the match was official.
When Damon asked why he was late, Tszyu dismissed the suggestion that he was struggling to lose weight.
“I was just walking my dog,” Tszyu said.
“I lost track of time. Sorry, guys.”
But when asked what would happen on Wednesday night, Tszyu again felt his cockiness and said, “Vegans are going to eat sausage tomorrow.”
Later, footage showed Tszyu sitting on the steps next to the stage, barely able to hold down a drink, looking incredibly exhausted and embarrassed.
