Former Bellator MMA champion Patricky Freire’s Professional Fighters League debut against Clay Collard was one of the most anticipated bouts of the organization’s 2024 season.
The fight lived up to the hype, with the Brazilian knocking Corrado out on the floor at the 1:32 mark of the second round on Friday at the Virgin Hotels Theater in Las Vegas.
Freire revealed that his change in attitude in the second half of the opening game was due to an injury that plagued him during camp.
“This camp has been very tough for me,” Freire told Sherdog.com. “Ten days ago I had tendinitis in my knee and had to have an injection, otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to fight.
“After the match, many people asked me why I changed my offensive stance after the knockdown. [It was because] In addition to the injury, I also felt that he had kicked me. ”
Freire revealed that she plans to undergo curative stem cell treatment in Colombia. Depending on how that process goes, Pitbull could be forced to withdraw from the remainder of the PFL season.
“I’m going to Colombia to undergo stem cell treatment. It will take a week. I’m hopeful that this treatment will yield results because I won’t risk fighting the second stage in these conditions even if I can’t train enough. I hope so,” Freire said. I will make a calm decision once again and focus on returning to 100%. ”
