The Professional Fighters League playoffs continue with four semifinal bouts in the featherweight and welterweight divisions.
The main event of PFL 9 is a featherweight bout between 2022 champion Brendan Loughnane and Kai Kamaka III. The winner of the main event will face the winner of Gabriel Bulaga and Timur Khizriyev. All of the fighters competing in the playoffs have weighed in, including participants in the welterweight semifinals Magomed Umalatov vs. Neiman Gracie and Shamil Musaev vs. Murad Ramazanov.
The full status of non-playoff bouts has yet to be determined. Welterweight Muhammad Belkhamov failed to make weight on his first attempt for his bout against Ray Cooper III and will be given extra time before trying again. Even more curiously, welterweight Eric Alekhine reportedly did not show up to weigh in for his bout against Luka Pokrit. The status of those bouts is currently unknown. We will update the post as updates become available.
Loughnane (28-5) has quickly become one of the faces of the promotion. The British fighter bounced back from a knockout loss to Jesus Pinedo in 2023 with TKO wins over Pedro Carvalho and Justin Gonzalez. He’ll be looking to reach his second PFL final. Meanwhile, Kamaka III (14-5) is riding a five-fight winning streak that includes decision wins over Carvalho, Bubba Jenkins and Henry Corrales.
The PFL 9 main card will air live on ESPN and ESPN+ at 10pm ET/7pm PT, with prelims airing exclusively on ESPN+ at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
