The return of the Professional Fighters League to Saudi Arabia was confirmed after the weigh-in of the PFL “Battle of the Giants”.
The pay-per-view card features three Superfight Championship matches, with Francis Ngannou’s return to mixed martial arts being the headliner of the event. Both fighters competed under the 265-pound weight limit, although Renan Ferreira looks to spoil the superstar’s PFL debut. Cris Cyborg and Larissa Pacheco will face off for featherweight gold, while Jonny Evren and Fabian Edwards will clash for middleweight glory, including four other title fight participants. Every fighter on the card turned heads.
Ngannou (17-3) finally returned to mixed martial arts after boxing against Tyson Fury, where he was brutally knocked out by Anthony Joshua. “The Predator” defended his UFC heavyweight title with a decision win over Cyril Gane in January 2022. The 38-year-old enters the fight with his heavyweight title on a six-fight winning streak. Ngannou’s official weight was 256.8 pounds, making him the lightest man in the cage.
Ferreira (13-3, NC State) has been much more aggressive in the eight fights since his opponent last fought. “Problema” recently went on a four-fight knockout win streak, winning the 2023 PFL Heavyweight Season in the process. His most recent victim was Ryan Bader, who kept the Brazilian in the cage for just 21 seconds. Ferreira stepped on the scale and weighed 261.5 pounds.
The PFL “Battle of the Giants” main card will air live on ESPN+ and Dazn Pay-Per-View on Saturday at 4pm ET/1pm PT. Meanwhile, qualifying begins at 1:30 PM ET/10:30 AM PT on ESPN+.
