The Professional Fighters League will hold something of a championship twinbill in Saudi Arabia next month.
The promotion announced on Saturday that the PFL Championship and PFL MENA Finals will be held on November 29 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The night’s main card features title fights across six PFL weight classes, led by a featherweight championship showdown between Brendan Loughnane and Timur Khizriyev.
Meanwhile, the undercard will feature PFL MENA title matches for welterweight, lightweight, featherweight and bantamweight. Overall, the PFL World Championship event will feature 10 five-round matches.
“The Championship is the culmination of a sporting season format in which PFL players have overcome some of the toughest challenges in all sports to reach this point,” PFL CEO Peter Murray said in a release. ” he said. “We have multiple athletes competing that we look forward to seeing take the next step in their careers, but we also have returning champions who want to see if they can reach the top again. That’s what makes it so great.”
This will be the first time the PFL Championship will also include regional finals. According to the release, Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the event “marks an important milestone in (the country’s) continued commitment to growing the sport of MMA.”
