The Professional Fighters League’s first event of 2025 is just one match away.
The promotion announced on Monday that the proposed middleweight bout between Yakub Slimaninov and Jara Al Shirawi will be removed from the Road to Dubai card. The reason for the cancellation was not disclosed. As a result, the Road to Dubai will proceed with 11 matches, starting at max 11am ET/8am PT.
Chechnya’s Sulimanov is undefeated in eight professional fights, with the majority of his fights taking place under the banner of Absolute Champion Akhmat. He is 2-0 in 2024 and is coming off a first-round stoppage of Vahid Kordo Manjiri at Middle East Fighting Championship 4 last May.
Al Shirawi is a former Brave Combat Federation Champion, and has appeared in multiple matches in the PFL to his credit. Most recently, he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Omar El Dhahrawy in the PFL MENA semifinals in September of this year.
PFL Road to Dubai is headlined by the lightweight title fight between Usman Nurmagomedov and Paul Hughes. In the co-main event, Vadim Nemkov will take on Tim Johnson in a heavyweight scrap.
