Bellator Champions Series: Paris lost one of its biggest fights in a freak accident just one day after it was announced.
Bellator officially kicked off a new era last month with its first solo event in Belfast since PFL acquired the promotion. The second card of the Bellator Champions Series is scheduled to take place on May 17th in Paris.
Yesterday, it was announced that up-and-coming PFL star and former kickboxing champion Cedric Doumbe has moved to Bellator and will face Derek Anderson in Paris, but Anderson is suffering from a serious injury sustained while riding his motorcycle. He revealed on Instagram that he had no choice but to withdraw from the match.
Losing Doumbe is a huge blow to the Bellator Champion Series card in Paris, and Anderson last stepped into the Bellator cage in 2021, having been stopped for quite some time by Michael “Venom” Page in his first match. A round likely to be shelved.
It remains to be seen whether Doumbe will be rebooked against a different opponent in his Bellator debut. After Anderson’s fight was first announced, the Frenchman exchanged words with Magomed Umalatov, who is currently competing in the PFL welterweight tournament and just defeated former Bellator champion Andrei Koreshkov earlier this month.

If they do that, they will be able to continue promoting Doumbe by taking advantage of his outstanding abilities. Popular in France.
