One moment Derek Anderson will be fighting Cedric Doumbe. Next, he is the victim of an alleged hit and run.
Bellator Champions Series: Hours after the booking to fight Doumbe in Paris was officially announced, Anderson posted a graphic image of a leg injury on Instagram on Tuesday, suggesting he was involved in a hit-and-run. The photo of Anderson’s dismembered leg appears to have been taken on the side of the road shortly after the incident.
May 17 BCS: With less than a month left until Paris, Anderson (17-4-1) said he will not be able to play. The Accor Arena event was scheduled to be co-headlined by Doumbe vs. Anderson.
It’s unclear whether Doumbe (5-1) will remain on the card to fight his replacement opponent.
News of Doumbe-Anderson’s loss as co-headliner comes on the heels of BCS. Lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov’s title defense against Alexander Chablis was canceled due to Nurmagomedov’s injury, leaving Paris without an original main event. The match will be rebooked in the near future.
With this change, the lineup for Bellator Champions Series: Paris is as follows:
Main card:
Patchy Mix vs. Magomed Magomedov – Bantamweight Title Fight Cedric Doumbe vs. TBA Gregory Baben vs. Costello van Steenis Jonas Vilhariño vs. Yves Landau Archie Colgan vs. Thibaut Guti
Spare card:
Lewis Sutherland vs. Slim Trabelsi Mansour Barnawi vs. Yusuke Yachi Imamshafi Aliyev vs. Mike Shipman Aspen Ladd vs. Katerina Shakalova Asael Adjudge vs. Bruno Fontes
