Ian Garry continues to hold a grudge against Colby Covington.
Gary will face Shavkat Rakhmonov as a title eliminator contender in the co-main event of UFC 310 on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Covington is scheduled to headline UFC Fight Night against hot contender Joaquin Buckley on Dec. 14 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Gary and Covington’s feud began earlier this year when “Chaos” baselessly accused the Irish couple. Gary has since ruled out Covington, but the former interim champion accepted a booking to fight Buckley after “The Future” faced Rachmonov. Gary has previously urged Buckley to knock out Covington and believes “The New Mantha” is perfectly capable of doing that. But in a more ideal scenario, Gary would like to finish “Nomad” quickly at UFC 310 and face Covington the following week at UFC Tampa.
“I think Buckley is starving him,” Garry told Ariel Helwani. “But you know what I like? … I go there on December 7th and beat Shavkat early. I came out of there unscathed and unscathed. I grab the microphone, sit down and say, ‘Belal Muhammad is coming back next year. Or, Dana, Hunter, wait until the UFC comes back and we can walk to Florida and we can beat these guys.” 25 minutes away from Colby Covington will tell you how much better you are next week. You can prove that. ‘That guy talks a lot but he doesn’t back it up…I want to beat Shafqat and fight in the main event next week in Tampa. And let’s bury Colby Covington, let him die in that Octagon, never to be seen again. ”

Outside of that hypothetical scenario, Garry is counting on a potential title shot against his Kazakh opponent. ‘The Future’ then hopes to move up to middleweight and challenge Khamzat Chimaev, who is likely to hold the title in the future.
“My ideal scenario would be to beat Shafqat and win the world title. I would move up to middleweight and fight Khamzat and win that belt as well,” Gary said. “I’m not afraid of any man. I know how talented I am.”
🏆 Ian Garry describes his ideal scenario of becoming a double champion:
“I will fight and beat Shafqat and win the world title, move up to middleweight and fight Khamzat and win that belt as well.
I’m not afraid of any man. ”
