Six of the seven bouts scheduled for the Ultimate Fighting Championship, held on Mexican Independence Day, will feature one fighter representing Mexico.
Iridium Sports Agency, the management team for Raul Rosas Jr. (9-1), announced Friday that Rosas will face Kiren Awori (25-11, 1 NC) at UFC 306. The Sept. 14 event, also known as “Noche UFC,” will take place at the Sphere in Las Vegas as part of a 10-bout event. The bantamweight bout has since been confirmed by other media outlets.
“El Nino Problema” rose to fame after earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series and becoming the youngest UFC fighter to win a fighter of all time. Now 19 years old, Rosas Jr. suffered his first professional loss to Christian Rodriguez in April 2023. He then bounced back with a first-round knockout of Terrence Mitchell and most recently beat Ricky Tarcios in June.
With a .500 record inside the Octagon, Aoli was unlucky in his last cage bout when he was beaten and kicked repeatedly in the groin by Daniel Markos, resulting in a no-contest. Prior to that struggle, he had won three of his four bouts, including decision wins over Jonny Munoz Jr. and Jay Perrin, as well as a thorough win over Cameron Els. Along the way, Ayeman Zahabi knocked out “The Mongolian Killer” in 64 seconds.
UFC 306, known as “Noche UFC,” will take place at The Sphere in Las Vegas on September 14. The main event has yet to be announced, but the promotion has announced that exactly 10 bouts will take place on the night. The card is rumored to feature Alexa Grasso defending her flyweight title against Valentina Shevchenko, while the main event could be a bantamweight title bout between Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili.
