The new ranked UFC flyweight tilt also serves as an announcement that the promotion is back in Atlanta.
On Thursday, Miranda Maverick (15-5) defeated the news on Instagram that he was thrown away at Rosenama Junas (13-7) on June 14th. The location has not been confirmed yet, but the expected destination for this UFC Fight Night card is at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. If this remains – the promotion has been actively shifting card locations recently – it is the first no-wage viewing show held in the Georgia capital. Currently, this is the only match ever announced at the event.
“Thug Rose” has had mixed results since moving to the flyweight division. She has made decisions about Amanda Rivas and Tracy Cortez, but the ceiling was developed because both Manon Fiorotto and Erin Blanchefield drove her away. Nevertheless, Namajunas has always been a two-time UFC strawweight champion, first claiming it in 2017 from Joanna Jedlzejk and won in 2021 from Weli Chan. The Wisconsin native has distanced himself in the last six outings, five of whom have five rounds of problems.
Maverick is currently riding a streak of UFC Tenure High 4-Pites. Tapping Priscila Cachoeira in 2023, she claimed a decision over Andrea Lee, Dione Barbosa and Jamey-Lyn Horth in 2024, earning a spot ranked in Weight Class. Prior to the pairing, Maverick gushed out about his opponent.
“Rose Namajunas is the inspiration for so many women, especially at WMMA, and I am no exception,” Maverick wrote on Instagram. “I watched her fight when I was in the sport and then trained with her regularly. We’ve been training together for the past few years and are fortunate to be mainly trained at different gyms.
