The drama continues.
Ryan Garcia entered Friday at 3.2 pounds over his 140-pound limit for Saturday’s pay-per-view bout against titleholder Devin Haney at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

“Ryan weighed in above his contract weight. He will respect the handshake that took place at his final press conference yesterday. We are in a fight,” said his promoter Golden Boy. said in a statement Friday morning.
Haney acknowledged that, saying in X that “Ryan respected half a million a pound.”
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) was scheduled to defend his WBC 140-pound title. However, Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) will be ineligible for the championship because he lost weight.
Garcia apparently thought there was no point in trying to get back on the scale within an hour to lose 3.2 pounds.
Garcia exhibited erratic behavior prior to the match, including a series of bizarre and crude comments during the final press conference.
Haney won the title with a shutout of Regis Prograis in his most recent fight in December.
