Light heavyweights Ovince Saint Preux and Ryan Spann have completed early qualifying for UFC 307 in Salt Lake City.
Former LFA Champion Spann was looking to break out of a three-game slump, but OSP is 2-1 in his last three matches, including a win over Shogun Rua.
Spann began his first attack with a leg kick and landed his next attack moments later. Saint Preux fought back, but his leg grazed the cup in the thigh area and the match was temporarily stopped. On the restart, Spann came out on top with a left hand. OSP fights back and scores this, but Spann takes a big right and locks in a guillotine! The pair fell to the ground, Span on top and in a matter of seconds Saint Preux tapped!
The win puts Spann back in the win column for the first time since November 2022. It also marked his 10th career victory via guillotine, clearly becoming Ryan “Superman” Spann’s go-to submission. As for Ovanse Saint Preux, this was the last match on his current contract. It remains to be seen whether he will return, considering the UFC is not known for re-signing losing fighters after their contracts expire.
Official results: Ryan Spann def. Ovance Saint Preux, submission (rear naked choke), round 1, 1:35
