Shawn Brady called out Ian Garry and Colby Covington following his win over Gilbert Burns at UFC Fight Night 242.
Brady faced Burns on Saturday at UFC Apex in Las Vegas in the headlining fight of his first ever UFC card, and Brady dominated Burns in every aspect en route to a unanimous decision victory that Brady called the biggest win of his career to date.
Brady called out Gary in his post-fight interview in the Octagon and elaborated further during the post-fight media gathering. The Philadelphia native believes Gary overestimated him. Brady also called out former title challenger Covington, whom he considers the easiest opponent in the division. Brady vows to dominate “Chaos” both in the stands and on the ground if the bout goes ahead.
“I think Ian just thinks he’s God’s gift to the earth, but he’s not. I think everybody in this sport thinks that,” Brady said. “I mean, I’m gonna fight him. I’m gonna fight Colby. I think Colby is the easiest guy in this weight class. I’d beat him on the stand. I’d beat him like a ragdoll. But I want to fight Ian. He’s an up-and-coming guy. I’m a little older than him, but I’ll be here a long time. He’s undefeated, he’s got a lot of attention. He said before, ‘I’m not gonna fight anybody ranked below me.’ I’ll be ranked sixth on Tuesday, so I’ll probably let him fight me.”
Brady plans to fight by February 2025, when he and his wife are expecting a baby girl.
Brady’s win didn’t go unnoticed by welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, who handed the Philadelphia native his only professional defeat via technical knockout in October 2022. ‘Remember the Name’ acknowledged that Brady is open to a rematch, while also hinting at a fight with former champion Kamaru Usman.
It’s going to be hard to beat Brady.

Garry is undefeated in eight UFC fights, with three finishes. 3 Finishes. “The Future” Garry most recently won a unanimous decision over Michael Page at UFC 303 in June of this year.
Covington, meanwhile, is winless against any fighter currently active in the UFC. The former interim champion last fought at UFC 296 in December 2023, losing a one-sided unanimous decision to Leon Edwards for a third UFC title shot.
