Alex Pereira left no doubt that he is the undisputed champion of the light heavyweight division by avenging his mentor’s death.
“Poitan” came close to finishing off Jamahal Hill in the main event of UFC 300 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, earning a knockout victory at 3:14 of round one in their 205-pound title bout. I got it. Hill, who was forced to vacate the title he won by defeating Glover Teixeira in 2023, never had the chance to face the Brazilian knockout artist. Thanks to his recent wins, Pereira has risen to the No. 1 spot in the light heavyweight division, surpassing former Bellator champion Vadim Nemkov, who moved to heavyweight earlier this year. Following him is Jiri Prochaska, who returned to the win column with a second-round TKO over fellow contestant Aleksandar Rakić at UFC 300.
Meanwhile, Max Holloway is currently ranked in two weight divisions following his memorable KO win over Justin Gaethje in the BMF title fight on the main card of UFC 300. “Blessed” is a staple in the featherweight rankings, but his win over Gaethje moved him to fourth place in the lightweight voting. Holloway wasn’t the only lightweight to make a big jump Saturday. After a split decision against former 155-pound champion Charles Oliveira, Arman Tsarukyan moved into second place, but his title shot will have to wait until Islam Makhachev takes on Dustin Poirier at UFC 302.
Elsewhere, Kayla Harrison proved her dominance extends beyond the Professional Fighters League by holding off Holly Holm en route to a second-round submission victory at 135 pounds . It remains to be seen whether the Olympic judoka will be able to compete consistently in the bantamweight division, but her successful debut was rewarded with a fourth-place finish in the rankings. While Harrison made headlines as her new addition, so did Weili Zhang, who defeated Xiaonan Yan in the co-main event of UFC 300 to win her fifth strawweight title bout. . As such, Chan remains the clear No. 1 at 115 pounds.
Other notable moves include Aljamain Sterling debuting at No. 10 in the featherweight rankings after his effort to win over Calvin Kattar, and Dibson Figueiredo moving to bantamweight after submission from Cody Garbrandt. He remains stable at 11th in the rankings. Finally, Renato Carneiro joins the lightweight bubble after his stoppage victory over Jalin Turner, while Bobby Greene remains at 155 pounds after defeating respected veteran Jim Miller .
