ONE Championship Muay Thai women’s 125-pound champion Sumila Sander recently revealed her plans for three-sport glory ahead of her second title defense.
The youngest champion in the promotion’s history, Sandel, at just 19 years old, has already accomplished more than many fighters accomplish in their entire careers. “The Hurricane” became the inaugural ONE Championship Muay Thai Women’s 125-pound Champion with a unanimous decision over Jackie Bangtan, and she has since defended her title with a KO victory over Alicia Helen Rodriguez. The Swede is scheduled to make her second title defense against Natalia Dyatchkova at ONE Fight Night 22 on May 3.
Sandel recently spoke about her future aspirations for a three-sport championship in the lead-up to her match with Diatchkova. Sandel, who has already started dabbling in mixed martial arts, hopes to hold the ONE Championship Muay Thai, Kickboxing and MMA titles at the same time.
“I just want to be the best I can be. And I want a kickboxing belt. I also want an MMA belt in the future,” Sandel said. “Now that I have started training in mixed martial arts, I would like to win all the belts at the same time.”
While Sandel is considering a kickboxing gold medal as soon as she defeats Diatchkova, “The Hurricane” would like to break into mixed martial arts, preferably in a mixed rules bout. A regular spectacle offered in promotions.
“I’d love to try for a kickboxing belt. Then maybe I can get into a mixed rules match and try MMA. I’ve already done some guillotines, so I’d love to try it out.” .”
Sandel is sure to take note of Diatchkova’s proven knockout power, with three of her four wins at ONE Championship coming via first-round knockout. However, the champion wonders how “Karelian Lynx” will hold up when the fight enters rounds four and five.
“Yeah, I have. I’ve seen her all. [ONE] Friday fight. Most matches have very short ending times, so it’s very hard to say what would happen if they lasted more than one round. But she’s definitely strong and she’s good at boxing… [I’m most impressed by] Her speed and power as she knocks out her opponent. ”
