Featherweight action fighters Steve Garcia and Choi Seung-woo collided in the co-main event of UFC Las Vegas 94.
Garcia came into the bout on the high of his UFC career with three straight wins and on the brink of a ranking challenge. Standing in his way was Choi, who had once been on a similar winning streak but had since gone 1-3. Steve knew if he could capitalize on a slight advantage he would have a strong case to face a ranked fighter next, and that’s exactly what he did.
Garcia, in his usual crazy style, came charging in early on. They got into a clinch and Steve tried to take down Seung-woo but couldn’t. When they traded blows again, a leg kick from Choi put Garcia on his feet and drew the first blood. But Garcia is one of the most unflinching fighters of all time. He fought back with a flurry of punches and didn’t let up until he had Choi rocking. He then punched away, took him down and finished him off with ground strikes.
Garcia’s fourth consecutive knockout cemented him as the sole leader of the longest current knockout streak in UFC, no small feat for a 145-pound fighter.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Steve Garcia defeated Choi Seung Woo via TKO (punches), 1 minute, 36 seconds, round 1
