Tai Tuivasa intends to “stay alive to fight again” following his loss to Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC 305.
Tuivasa faced Rozenstruik in front of his home fans at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia on Saturday. “Bam Bam” was completely dominated by the Surinamese heavyweight in the stands, losing a split decision. Dissenting judge Howie Booth, who bizarrely awarded all three rounds to Tuivasa, was relieved of duty for the remainder of the card and faced huge backlash online.
Tuivasa released a statement thanking his fans and speaking out about the loss. The popular Australian said he gave it his all in the fight but was unable to pull off the win. However, Tuivasa remains determined to move forward with his MMA career.
“Damn. What a sport. I gave everything to this camp and the win just didn’t come,” Tuisbasa wrote on Instagram. “Much love to all the fans. I gave everything to this and didn’t get my reward. It’s my fault. Love you all, the real fans. Live to fight again. Love you all, Australian fans. Best in the industry. Live to fight again.”
Tuivasa is undoubtedly at a crossroads in his UFC career. After previously riding a five-fight winning streak, he has now lost five straight fights since his stoppage loss to Ciril Gane in September 2022.
