If Jennifer Maia wins, she will become one of the few Invicta Fighting Championship title holders in multiple divisions. Maia (22-10-1), who returned firmly to the Invicta FC ranks with a decision win over Maira Canturia in August, needed that one win to claim bantamweight gold. The former Invicta flyweight queen, who won the interim strap in 2016 and later won the undisputed honor and defended it twice, will take on powerhouse Talita Bernardo (11-4) at the top of Invicta FC 59 It turns out. Maia will leave Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2023 after his contract expires. Maia, who was a member of the top flight from 2018 to 2023, failed to contest for the flyweight strap while celebrating victories against names such as Roxanne Modafferi, Joanne Wood and Casey O’Neill. She returned to her former league, Invicta, after the organization chose not to re-sign the fighter, who has an even 12-0, 6-6 record in the UFC.
Fellow Brazilian Bernardo captured the bantamweight title by defeating Taneisha Tennant at Invicta FC 51 in early 2023. The 37-year-old returned just under 18 months later and made her first title defense, scoring the centerpiece of Invicta FC 55 over Olga Rubin. Like Maia, Bernardo previously competed in the UFC, but only won one of his four fights. Since leaving the UFC, Bernardo has won five straight fights, three of which came as a sub, all of which came in round two.
