Tatiana Suarez’s path to Ultimate Fighting Championship gold has hit yet another obstacle.
According to reports, the strawweight contestant suffered an undisclosed injury that forced her to withdraw from her scheduled fight with Vilna Jandilova at UFC 310 on Dec. 7. Following the initial report from MMA Mellot, multiple media outlets confirmed the news. It is unclear at this time whether Jandiroba will remain on the card to face his replacement.
Suarez and Janilova were scheduled to face each other in August 2023, but the Brazilian withdrew due to a knee injury. Suarez remained on the UFC on ESPN 50 card, submitting former strawweight queen Jessica Andrade in the second round of their matchup. The 33-year-old Millenia MMA representative was scheduled to return to action against Amanda Lemos at UFC 298 in February, but Suarez withdrew from the bout due to what she described as a “minor setback.”
When healthy, Suarez weighs 115 pounds and is considered one of the top contenders in the UFC. She is undefeated in seven Octagon appearances, with other notable wins over Carla Esparza, Alexa Grasso and Nina Nunes.
Jandiroba, 36, a former Invicta Fighting Championship titleholder, has won his past four professional appearances. Most recently, she earned a second-round submission victory over Amanda Lemos in the UFC on July 20, headlining ESPN 60.
UFC 310 will be held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be headlined by a welterweight championship showdown between Belal Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov.
