Loic Radjabov and Trey Ogden both stepped into the Octagon on Saturday looking to extend their winning streaks to two straight victories at UFC Las Vegas 94.
Trey Ogden last stepped into the Octagon in March, defeating Kurt Hollobaugh via unanimous decision, and Loic Radjabov last stepped into the Octagon in March, defeating Abdul-Karim Al-Serwadi in the final round.
The match started with Loic on the move right away. He quickly landed some hard punches. Trey managed to get a takedown just a few seconds into the match. Loic tried to get up, but Ogden dragged him to the mat and took control of his opponent’s back, this time pinning him against the cage. Radjabov opted to go for his stomach, taking a few blows from his opponent. In the middle of the round, Ogden used his half to control Loic’s head and neck, securing a body triangle. Trey started going for the rear naked choke, but Loic continued to defend bravely with hand fights. Ogden continued to land short punches and tried to get the choke until the end of the round, but failed.
Herb Dean gave Loic a stern warning before the start of the second round for grabbing the fence. Early in the round, Loic punched and punched hard, briefly going into the clinch. Ogden began to look uncomfortable as the fight continued on the stand. Radjabov landed a few hard punches and fended off a desperate takedown attempt from Ogden. Trey was pressed up against the cage and took a few hard punches before slowing down and briefly earning some respect in the clinch. Loic was still coming forward and landing strikes when Ogden started to clinch in the middle of the round. From there, Ogden scored a slick takedown and quickly transitioned to full mount. Ogden worked his way up to an arm triangle choke while weakening his opponent with short strikes. Loic defended the choke and eventually Ogden tried to finish, but barely lost the choke. Radjabov exploded into a scramble, evaded a desperate headlock and quickly resumed striking until the end of the round.
As the final round began, Loic was quick to land punches. Ogden didn’t take any chances this time, quickly seizing the opportunity to score a well-timed takedown. In full mount, Ogden landed some punches and again went for a head and arm choke. In the middle of the round, Trey was looking to land some nasty short strikes to damage his opponent’s arms and shoulders. Radjabov escaped again, avoiding a guillotine attempt. Ogden was left on the ground, looking completely exhausted. Loic continued to land ground-and-pound from standing and kneeling positions for the remainder of the round. With just seconds left in the bout, a push-up kick from Ogden sent Loic flying to the center of the Octagon.
