The rumored return of Ultimate Fighting Championship to Manchester, England has been confirmed.
The Las Vegas-based promotion announced Wednesday that UFC 304 will take place on July 27 at Co-op Live, the largest arena in the United Kingdom. It will be the first sporting event to be held at the Manchester-based venue.
“I’m so excited to be returning to Manchester, and there’s no better time than this summer,” UFC President and CEO Dana White said in a release. “We have two champions from the UK and the fans are looking forward to the UFC.” [pay-per-view] event. The matches for this card have not been revealed, but welterweight champion Leon Edwards and interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall are rumored to be competing in the event. UFC 304 will air in the United States during the card’s traditional pay-per-view time slot, with prelims kicking off at 6pm ET/3pm PT, followed by the main event at 10pm ET/7pm PT. Sometimes it gets kicked off. Other British fighters who could compete at UFC 304 include Paddy Pimblett, Molly McCann, Michael Page and Arnold Allen.
UFC 304 will be the promotion’s first trip to Manchester since UFC 204 in October 2016. The card was headlined by Michael Bisping, who retained his middleweight title by unanimous decision in a rematch with rival Dan Henderson.
