Abdul Kareem Al Selwadi and Ghulam Kutateladze will face off at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The lightweight showdown will take place on the main card of UFC Abu Dhabi on August 3, 2024.
News of the bout was first reported by MMA Junkie’s Farah Hanoun on Saturday.
Guram Kutateladze (12-4) is 1-2 since joining UFC with a split decision win over top-ranked Mateusz Gamrot in October 2020. Guram has struggled to step into the cage recently, having a total of four fights canceled in nearly four years and only walking into the Octagon three times. Kutateladze lost a split decision to another high-level fighter, Damir Ismagulov, in June 2022. Most recently, “The Georgian Viking” lost via third-round TKO to Elf Brenner last July.
His opponent at UFC Abu Dhabi, Abdul Kareem Al Selwadi (15-4), is a former Fury FC lightweight champion and a product of the Contender Series’ 2023 season. In March, the “Pride of Palestine” suffered a rough third-round knockout loss at the hands of Loic Radjabov in his UFC debut in the opening fight of the Rozenstruik vs. Gadzhiev card.
