Ultimate Fighting Championship CEO Dana White teams up with Mark Zuckerberg.
On Monday, it was announced that White had been elected to Meta’s board of directors, along with Exor CEO John Elkann and technology investor Charlie Songhurst. One of the largest information technology companies in the United States, Meta owns Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and more.
“Dana, John, and Charlie will add deep expertise and perspectives that will help us address the huge opportunities presented by the future of AI, wearables, and human connectivity,” said Meta founder and CEO ( CEO) Zuckerberg said.
White has long been the front man for the UFC, both when it was previously owned by Zuffa and now under TKO Group Holdings. He expressed his enthusiasm for his new venture in the release.
“I had no interest in joining the board of directors until I received an offer to join the board of Meta. I strongly believe that social media and AI are the future,” said White. . “I’m very excited to join this great team and learn more about this business from the inside. There’s nothing I love more than building brands and helping take Meta to the next level. I’m looking forward to it.
Mr. Zuckerberg is an avid mixed martial arts fan, and there was some talk a while back that Mr. White was planning a mixed martial arts fight between CEO Meta and Tesla founder Elon Musk. That idea didn’t last long, but it’s well-documented that Zuckerberg is a consistent jiu-jitsu guy, and has even attended several UFC events.
Perhaps not coincidentally, White recently mentioned the possibility of using AI for UFC rankings after expressing dissatisfaction with the decision-making of the current media-based promotional board.
