After a tumultuous week that saw high-profile fights canceled, Ultimate Fighting Championship is hoping for more positive headlines from UFC on ESPN 58.

Headlining the 11-bout card is flyweight contenders Alex Perez and Tatsuro Taira. Both fighters successfully weighed in for the five-round bout, which pits a former title challenger against an unbeaten contender. As for the rest of the bouts on the card, all made it in except for Tagir Uranbekov, who weighed 3.5 pounds over the flyweight limit for his bout against Joshua Vann. As a result, the bout was canceled.
This will be Perez’s (25-8) third UFC main event. Perez is fresh off a brutal knockout of Matheus Nicolau earlier this year to end a three-fight losing streak. The 32-year-old Perez has a busy schedule as he fights for the third time in 2024. Perez weighed in at just 126 pounds when he officially stepped on the scale.
Meanwhile, the unbeaten Taira boasts an impressive 15-0 record. The completely unbeaten 24-year-old Taira will face his toughest fight to date as he takes a major step up as a competitor. The Japanese fighter boasts a 5-0 record inside the Octagon, with recent wins over Edgar Chailes and Carlos Hernandez. The Okinawa native officially weighs in at 126 pounds for his first UFC main event.
UFC on ESPN 58 prelims will stream on ESPN2 and ESPN+ on Saturday at 7pm ET/4pm PT, followed by the main card at 10pm ET/7pm PT on ESPN2 and ESPN+.
